The story
For over 25 years, Justin Fatica has been impacting lives across the globe through inspirational speaking engagements, youth outreach, and most recently: basketball coaching. This story begins well before Team Amazing.
Since he was 17, Justin has dreamt of starting You’re Amazing Fitness: a gym and fitness center that creates a love-based culture through encouragement, cleanliness, joyful service, servant leadership, and accountability.
In 2019, this dream was almost achieved, until the COVID-19 pandemic halted progress and caused Justin to pivot his efforts toward coaching. The past two years have wrought tremendous change in Coach Fatica’s life, but more importantly, for the players.
Team Amazing is composed of young teenage boys across Syracuse, NY, that are from the inner-city, suburbs, and rural country. Justin assembled this team and showed them how to band together with the desire to not only win, but to build each other up and create a community of brotherhood, despite the various backgrounds. Teammates turn into brothers, coaches become mentors, and these young boys begin their journey to becoming men surrounded by leaders and encouragers.
Mentorship has the power to change lives. In The Paint shows that no matter one’s race, color, or creed, we all are worth believing in, and we need to see that greatness in one another. With a cast of NBA stars like Ömer Yurtseven, activists including Reverend Eugene Rivers, spiritual advisors and leaders such as Ken Blanchard, and the Team Amazing Coaches and Players, this docu-series will empower each viewer to recognize that “everyone’s a coach” through Justin’s 7 Disciplines of Encouragement.
In The Paint shows every person has the ability to ignite positive change in their everyday life by loving no matter what.
We live in a broken age. People are hurting and in desperate need of community and mentorship. We need stories of hope. When love is introduced into a world that’s hurting, it brings light into the darkness. This series is a glimpse into that hope; it’s a beacon of light in a dark world and an invitation to look at those around you and help them realize “You’re Amazing.”
